People that were involved with sex trafficking in Europe tell their stories because these people describe vulnerability, trafficker tactics, and violence to prevent other people from being put in these situation. Europe could be considered a strong hold for sex trafficking in the world. The narratives of Kevin Bales book â€Å"To Plead Our Own Cause†, speak a lot about the way people (mostly women) are forced or tricked into sex trafficking. Bales also writes about the vulnerability of the people forced into sex trafficking, and the violence associated with sex trafficking. I believe that Kevin Bales focused on these topics in sex trafficking in Europe because there is a lot to be learned from these cases. For example, Maria, was trafficked to Italy, France, and Netherlands by a man named Damir. He was what looked to be a young rich man that walked into her father’s shop looking for young women to be models. Damir wanted to hire Maria as a model but said it would require her to travel around Europe and would require her parents to sign off on it. So her parents did reluctantly, and she did go with Damir to Bari in southern Italy. So they arrive in Bari with a few other women and then they are forced into sex trafficking from there. She was vulnerable to this because she was chasing a dream of hers to become a model and travel the world. Chasing her dream put her in the worst possible situation and abused. â€Å"We pray that young men and women who are tempted by people who are the lowest animal’s to smuggle them to the west will find it and listen to what we suffered†(Maria 52). The next narrative that is an example of this is Adelina’s. Adelina was from Albania and was thirteen when she was forced into sex trafficking. Adelina’s mother left her fa ther before being forced into trafficking. While traveling to Her mother’s new husband home, Adelina’s mother fell of the side of a mountain and was injured.
